Describing the toilet of Indians, Ibn Battuta states, 'The Indians put oil of sesame on their heads and afterwards wash their hair with fuller's earth. This refreshes the body and makes the hair glossy and long, and that is the reason why the Indians and those who live in their country have long beards.'
