† Garuda lays special stress on the high specific gravity (=4·0) of a genuine ruby. While high specific gravity is indicative of the excellence of the gems in general, in the case of diamond it is just the reverse. It is not easy to account for this qualifying clause, seeing that diamond has a sp. gr. of 3·5.
