Charaka—Dridhabala Samhitá, quoted by Aruna in his commentary on Vágbhata. (Chakradatta, Bhánumatí). This passage shows that the ‘venous blood’ was conceived to be chyle-essence mixed with blood, and that the circulation of the chyle so far as it was held to contribute its quota to the constituent elements and tissues of the body was really supposed to be identical with the circulation of the blood This will be abundantly clear from the following account of the course of the chyle and the blood :—
