### Vādas in Kāvya Literature

### [c10.s9.1](https://indike.org/pramana/ins.science.tripathi-2021.c10.s9.1)

\*Vāda\* manifests in some of the hymns of \*Ṛgveda\*. The hymns related to dialogues of Purūravas and Urvaśī, Agastya and Lopāmudrā as well as Yama and Yamī are particularly characterized as debate on a particular issue.

### [c10.s9.2](https://indike.org/pramana/ins.science.tripathi-2021.c10.s9.2)

\*Vāda\* traditions were captured through fascinating imageries, tales and episodes in the whole literary tradition of India. Besides the description of debates that actually occurred, the two great epics — \*Rāmāyaṇa\* and \*Mahābhārata\* — incorporate a number of debates and dialogues within the main theme of their story involving perennial questions on social, political, moral or ethical issues (see Chap. 2).
