# Pramāṇa

> Pramāṇa is an open library of the primary sources of the Indian subcontinent: texts in their original languages (Sanskrit, Pāli, Prakrit, Tamil and others) with their recensions, commentaries and translations linked verse by verse, inscriptions, coins, archaeological sites and museum objects, what other civilisations wrote about India, and classic studies. It holds 106,833 works catalogued, 48,357 with their text, 13,683,955 passages, 441,600,958 words, 29,293 translations, 9,416 commentaries.

Pramāṇa (also written Pramana) is at https://indike.org/pramana/. It is free to read and to query. Texts come from GRETIL, SARIT, the Digital Corpus of Sanskrit, SuttaCentral, CBETA, 84000, Wikisource, the Internet Archive's scans (read by OCR) and many other projects, each credited with its edition and licence on the text's page. Machine translations are marked as such.

Paths: every document has a permanent path that is its URL — `in.veda.samhita.rg` (Ṛgveda), `in.veda.samhita.rg.1.1.1` (its first verse), `in.veda.samhita.rg!sayana` (Sāyaṇa's commentary), `in.veda.samhita.rg~en-griffith` (Griffith's translation), `*` a recension.
