karṇikāro, yathā lalita-mādhave (7.15)-
rāsāt tirohita-tanuḥ sakhi yasya puṣpaiś
cūḍāṃ cakāra cikure mama piñcha-cūḍaḥ |
kūle kalinda-duhitur dhṛta-kandalo'yaṃ
māṃ dandahīti sa muhur nava-karṇikāraḥ //

The karṇikāra, as in the Lalitamādhava (7.15): / O friend, with the flowers of which tree he who wears a peacock-feather crown, / disappearing from the rāsa-dance, fashioned a crest upon my hair— / this young karṇikāra on the bank of the daughter of Kalinda, bearing new sprouts, / burns me again and again!
