yathā-
vilāsī svacchandaṃ vasati mathurāyāṃ madhu-ripu-
rvasantaḥ santāpaṃ prathayati samantād anupadam |
durāśeyaṃ vairiṇy ahaha mad-abhīṣṭodyama-vidhau
vidhatte pratyūhaṃ kim iha bhavitā hanta śaraṇam //

For example:
“The playful enemy of Madhu dwells at will in Mathurā;
spring extends torment everywhere at every step;
this hostile, wicked longing, alas, places obstacles in the achievement of my desired end.
Ah, what will be my refuge here?”
