syāc ced ghūṇākṣra-nyāyāt suhṛttaiveha sammatā |
rasa-svabhāvād atrāpi vaipakṣyam iti kecana //
If, according to the maxim of the woodworm and the letter, [such parity] should occur, friendship alone is admitted here. / Yet some say that on account of the very nature of rasa, even here there is rivalry.
