sāmānyaguṇanirdeśāt trayamapyuditaṃ nanu
mālopamādiḥ sarvo 'pi na jyāyān vistaro mudhā //
Surely, by the mention of a common property, all three are stated; / all [such classifications as] serial simile and the rest are no better than vain prolixity.
