“‘Alas, mother, where have you hurried? What is this? Alas, gods, where are the blessings?
Fie on our lives! A thunderbolt, a fire has fallen on your limbs; our eyes are burnt!’
Thus the words of the city-women, pathetic and obstructed within guttural sounds,
make even those painted in pictures weep and shatter walls into a hundred pieces.” (Nārāyaṇabhaṭṭa, Jayantabhaṭṭollekha)
