In "expert in business" and the like, since collecting kuśa grass and so on is inapplicable, and in "a hamlet on the Ganges" and the like, since the Ganges cannot serve as a receptacle for a hamlet, when the primary meaning is blocked, through connection consisting in discriminative capacity and the like or in proximity, [first] from the common understanding of conventional usage;
and [second], because from an expression such as "a hamlet on the bank of the Ganges" there is no such cognition, out of a motive consisting in communicating those properties such as sanctity in that very manner; when an un-primary meaning is indicated by the primary, that superimposed operation of the word, resting upon an intermediate meaning, is indicative transfer. // 9
