anayorlakṣyasya lakṣakasya ca na bhedarūpaṃ tāṭasthyam / taṭādīnāṃ gaṅgādiśabdaiḥ pratipādane tattvapratipattau hi pratipipādayiṣitaprayojanasaṃpratyayaḥ / gaṅgāsaṃbandhamātrapratītau tu gaṅgātaṭe ghoṣa iti mukhyaśabdābhidhānāllakṣaṇāyāḥ ko bhedaḥ //10//

In these two, there is no indifference consisting of a separation between the indicated and the indicator. For when the bank and the like are communicated by words such as "Ganges", it is only upon the cognition of identity that the intended motive is comprehended.
