sāhasaṃ tu damo daṇḍaḥ sāma sāntvamatho samau|
samau vistrambhaviśvāsau bhreṣo bhraṃśo yathocitāt ||

Punishment (dama, daṇḍa) [also means] violence (sāhasa). Now sāman and sāntva are identical. / Visrambha and viśvāsa are identical [in the sense of trust]. Bhreṣa and bhraṃśa [mean] deviation from what is proper.
