udāhṛtaṃ ca | krīḍitaṃ, yathā-
mandākinī-saikata-vedikābhiḥ
sā kandukaiḥ kṛtrima-putrakaiś ca |
reme muhur madhya-gatā sakhīnāṃ
krīḍā-rasaṃ nirviśatīva bālye ||

“With altars made of sand from the Mandākinī,
with balls and with artificial doll-children,
she amused herself again and again amidst her friends,
as though enjoying the essence of play in her childhood.”
