Counsel (mantra) means the employment of policy (naya). Through its power, as in the Mudrārākṣasa, saṅghātya is exemplified by Cāṇakya's breaking of the enemy's allies. Through the power of wealth (artha), as in the Ādiparvan of the Mahābhārata, saṅghātya is exemplified by the gods causing a rift between the deeply affectionate Sunda and Upasunda by means of the asset named Tilottamā.
