asmat-kalpa-latā-dalāni gilati tvat-kāma-gaurvāryatāṃ
mac-cintāmaṇi-vedibhiḥ pariṇamed dūrān nayoccair gajam |
ity ārūḍha-vitardikāḥ pratipathaṃ jalpanti bhūdevatāḥ
siṃha-kṣmābhuji kalpa-vṛkṣa-surabhī-hasty-ādi-dānodyate ||

“‘Your wish-granting cow is devouring the leaves of our wish-granting creeper, turn her away!
Lead your tall elephant far away, lest he overturn my wish-fulfilling jewel's altars!’
—thus cry out the brāhmaṇas who have mounted the terraces along every road,
when King Siṃha sets about giving away wish-granting trees, Kamadhenu cows, elephants, and the like.”
