budhair jñeyo' yam ālamba uddīpana iti dvidhā |
ādhāra-viṣayatvābhyāṃ nāyako nāyikāpi ca ||
This is understood by the wise to be twofold: the primary determinant and the excitant determinant. / Through being the substrate and the object, the hero and the heroine also [are determinants].
