vimarśo vicāraḥ | tena, yathā-
gamanam alasaṃ śūnyā dṛṣṭiḥ śarīram asauṣṭhavaṃ
śvasitam adhikaṃ kiṃ nv etat syāt kim anyad ato' tha vā |
bhramati bhuvane kandarpājñā vikāri ca yauvanaṃ
lalita-madhurās te te bhāvāḥ kṣipanti ca dhīratām ||

"Contemplation" (vimarśa) means examination (vicāra). By means of that, as in:
His gait is languid, his gaze vacant, his body lacking vigour,
his sighing heavy; what could this be? Or what else could it be other than that?
Kāma's command roams through the world, and youth is susceptible to passion,
and those graceful and sweet emotions cast away firmness of mind.

2.156.p1

atra mādhava-gatāṃ cintām upalabhya kim atra kāraṇam iti vimṛśatā makarandena manmatha-nibandhana evāyaṃ bhāva iti satya-nirṇayānto vitarkaḥ |

Here, having observed the anxious reflection present in Mādhava, Makaranda deliberates: "What is the cause here?" and concludes that this state is certainly caused by Kāma; thus it is a deliberation ending in a true conclusion.
