para-gata-vibhāvair, yathā-
devo rakṣatu vaḥ kilānana-parivyākīrṇa-cūḍā-bharāṃ
bhartur bhasmani petuṣīṃ karatala-vyāmṛṣṭa-pārśva-kṣitim |
hā prāṇeśvara hā smareti rudatīṃ bāspākulākṣīṃ ratiṃ
dṛṣṭvā yasya lalāṭa-locanam api vyāptāśru nirvāpitam ||
[Caused] by determinants situated in another, as:
May the Lord protect you, whose forehead-eye, filled with tears, was extinguished
upon seeing Rati, her hair-knot scattered over her face,
fallen onto the ashes of her husband, the ground at her side wiped by her palms,
weeping, eyes troubled by tears: "Alas, lord of my life! Alas, Smara!"

Here, the Lord's sorrow at beholding the lamentable state of Rati is expressed by the welling up of tears.
