mantur aparādhaḥ | tasmād, yathā-
vibhūṣaṇa-pratyupahāra-hastam
upasthitaṃ vīkṣya viśāmpatis tam |
sauparṇam astraṃ pratisañjahāra
prahveṣv anirbandha-ruṣo hi santaḥ ||
An offense is a wrongdoing. From that, as in:
“Seeing him arrived with hands holding ornaments as a counter-gift,
the lord of the people withdrew the weapon of Garuḍa;
for the anger of noble men does not persist toward those who bow.”
