taruṇas tūttamādīnāṃ madhyamo madhya-nīcayoḥ |
apakṛṣṭas tu nīcānāṃ tat-tan-mada-vivardhane ||
The youthful [degree belongs] to superior characters and the like, the middling to middling and low, / and the low to inferior characters, in the progressive increase of their respective intoxication.
