nisarga-vairiṇor aṅgāṅgi-bhāvāt svādābhāvo, yathā-

susnigdha-māṃsa-kalitojjvala-locanaṃ vā
saṃsāra-sāram idam eva mukhaṃ bhavatyāḥ ||
The absence of aesthetic relish due to the principal-subordinate relation between natural enemies is seen, for example:
“Let dribble of saliva flow, or let it be filled with teeth and bones,
or let the lower lip be smeared with blood,
or let the bright eyes be set in moist flesh—
yet this very face of yours is the essence of the world!”
2.514.p1
atra śṛṅgāra-rasāṅgatām aṅgīkṛtavatā bībhatsena aṅgino' pi vicchedāya mūle kuṭhāro vyāpāritaḥ | evam anyeṣām api virodhinām aṅgāṅgi-bhāvenāsvādābhāvas tatra tatrodāharaṇe draṣṭavyaḥ |
Here, by the odious sentiment assuming subordination to the erotic sentiment, an axe has been laid to the very root to cut off even the principal sentiment. In this way, the absence of relish when other mutually opposed sentiments stand in a principal-subordinate relation is to be seen in their respective examples.
2.514.p2
bhṛtyor nāyakasyeva nisarga-dveṣiṇor api | 264
Even two natural enemies, like two servants of a king, (264)
