kva vayaṃ kva parokṣa-manmatho
mṛgaśāvaiḥ samam edhito janaḥ |
parihāsa-vijalpitaṃ sakhe
paramārthena na gṛhyatāṃ vacaḥ ||

Where are we, and where is this person who has never known love,
raised together with the fawns of deer?
Friend, it was prattle spoken in jest;
do not take my word as the truth!"

atra duṣyantena svayam uktasya śakuntalā-prasaṅgasya svayaṃ pracchādanaṃ saṃvṛttiḥ |

Here, Duṣyanta's concealing by himself the matter of Śakuntalā which had been spoken by himself is concealment.
