yathā anargha-rāghave, daśarathaḥ (sapraśrayam)-bhagavan viśvāmitra !
kaccit kāntāra-bhājāṃ bhavati paribhavaḥ ko' pi śauvāpado vā
pratyūhena kratūnāṃ na khalu makha-bhujo bhuñjate vā havīṃṣi |
kartuṃ vā kaccid antar vasati vasumatī-dakṣiṇaḥ sapta-tantur
yat samprāpto' si kiṃ vā raghu-kula-tapasām īdṛśo' yaṃ vivartaḥ ||

As in the Anargharāghava, Daśaratha (respectfully): “Reverend Viśvāmitra! / Does any humiliation or danger from wild beasts occur to those dwelling in the forest? / Because of an obstacle to the sacrifices, surely the gods do not go without consuming the oblations? / Or is there an intention in your heart to perform a seven-stringed rite whose sacrificial fee is the earth, / for which you have arrived, or is this such a transformation of the penances of Raghu's line?”
