yathā vīrabhadra-vijṛmbhaṇe, naṭaḥ-
patnī parilambi-kucā tanayā mama danturāpi taruṇa-vayāḥ |
krīḍā-kapir asti gṛhe tad ahaṃ nāṭya-prayoga-marmajñaḥ ||
As in the Vīrabhadravijṛmbhaṇa, the actor [says]:
"My wife has drooping breasts, and my daughter, though buck-toothed, is in the bloom of youth; / there is a pet monkey in my house; therefore I understand the heart of dramatic performance!"
3.383.p1
atra naṭena svakīya-nāṭya-prayoga-marmajñatve hetutayā kathitānāṃ krīḍā-kapi-sad-bhāvādīnām asambaddhatvād ayam asat-pralāpaḥ |
Here, because the reasons stated by the actor for his understanding the heart of dramatic performance—such as having a pet monkey—are unconnected, this is incoherent babble.
