eka-dvi-try-aṅka-pātrādi-bhedenānantatā yataḥ |
devī-vaśāt saṅgamena bhedaś cet tan na yujyate |
mālavikāgni-mitrādau nāṭikātva-prasaṅgataḥ ||

since variation in the number of acts (one, two, three, and so on) and characters would lead to endlessness; / and if union brought about through the queen's consent is the distinction, that is improper, / because it would entail that works such as the Mālavikāgnimitra are also nāṭikās.
