sāmānyā parakīyā vā nāyikātrānurāgiṇī |
vīthy-aṅga-prāya-vṛttitvān nocitā kula-pālikā | 273
lakṣyam asyās tu vijñeyaṃ mādhavī-vīthikādikam ||

The heroine here is enamoured, either a courtesan or another's wife; / a virtuous housewife is not appropriate because the action largely consists of the limbs of the vīthī. 273 / Its illustrative example should be known as the Mādhavīvīthikā and the like.
