vṛkṣamūle balaṃ yuktaṃ vṛkṣāgre balahīnakam
tasmāttu bandhayetsarvaṃ dārusaṃmūlātsudhīḥ
At the root of a tree there is strength; at the top of a tree it is devoid of strength; / therefore, the wise [architect] should join everything starting from the root of the timber.
