mānamātraṃ tridhā proktaṃ yavavṛddhiviśeṣataḥ
ṣaṭsaptāṣṭayavairetatkaniṣṭomadhyamottamam

The standard of measurement is stated to be threefold, according to the distinction of the increase of barleycorns: / with six, seven, and eight barleycorns, this is inferior, middling, and superior.
