uttare vaiśyasaṅgaḥ syātpūrve tu śūdrasadmakam
tadbāhye sarvajātīnāmālayaṃ kalpayetsudhīḥ
in the north should be the community of Vaiśyas, and in the east the dwelling of Śūdras; / outside that, the wise architect should fashion the dwelling of all mixed classes.
