uttarāyaṇamāse tu dakṣiṇāyana meva vā
mithunaṃ dhanuḥ kanyāṃ ca mīnaṃ caiva vivarjayet
In a month of the northern progress of the sun (Uttarāyaṇa) or indeed the southern progress (Dakṣiṇāyana), / one must avoid Gemini (Mithuna), Sagittarius (Dhanus), Virgo (Kanyā), and Pisces (Mīna).
