tatsūtrātpūrvadigdeśe nītvā cottarato diśi
evaṃ mīnavivṛddhiḥ syātpurato'ṅgulameva ca

Leading [the cord] from that cord towards the eastern direction and towards the north, / in this manner there is an expansion of the fish-figure (mīna) ahead by digits;
