dīpādigandhaṃ no vetti..............--iti viśeṣaḥ|
viṣṇudharmottare|
nirvāṇāddīpagandhaṃ tu yastu nāghrāti mānavaḥ|
saptāhena tu dharmajñāḥ paśyantyarkasutaṃ dhruvam||
"He does not perceive the odor of a lamp and the like…"—this is the distinction.
In the Viṣṇudharmottara:
A man who does not smell the odor of a lamp from one that has been extinguished,
in seven days, those who know duty [declare], he surely sees the son of the Sun [Yama].
