ityeva ṭṭaṣṭibhedena nirddiṣṭaṃ sakalaṃ phalam ||
varṇādipañcake viddhagraho datte śubhāśubham ||

Thus, all the fruit has been declared according to the division of aspects;
a planet that pierces within the group of five beginning with phonemes bestows the auspicious and inauspicious.

On the word "pierced": Here Lakṣmīdhara explained thus: when the ruler of the country who causes the piercing—acting with friendly and other relations—looks with a full aspect, he then becomes a giver of results in accordance with reality; staying in a friendly house he gives three-quarters of the fruit and looks with three quarters, then the fruit natural to him arises, and the fruit is brought to maturity by three quarters alone. If he pierces staying in an equal's house, and looks with a two-quarter aspect, then by nature the fruit arises by two quarters; if he pierces while in an enemy's house, then the fruit is one-quarter. When he looks with one quarter, he gives fruit according to reality. Narahari, however, holds that when an aspect beholds the pierced name-sign and pierces that sign-fraction, he brings about fruit by a quarter. Thus, by inferring from the aspect, the fruit is to be known otherwise in reverse order. And likewise, in a full aspect, what is fruit by one quarter becomes full. On the word "phonemes and so forth": In the circle of twelve signs beginning with Aries, the primary phonemes of the vowels a, ha, u, e, o, from the conjunction of these phonemes, va, vi, vu, ve, vo, for these signs arranged in navāṃśakas in order, a piercing subject to the planetary aspect is a giver of fruit. That piercing too is taught in relation to the group of phonemes and so on. Where on the fraction-diagram there is the rule of piercing navāṃśakas, there is piercing also of the phonemes of those navāṃśakas; there too the fruit is on the pierced navāṃśaka-sign by virtue of the planet's aspect on the circle of twelve signs beginning with Aries. On "vowels and phonemes": The vowels and phonemes stated on their own diagram are afflicted during a piercing of the lunar day. Among the phonemes of the lunar day, whatever sign is there, when that sign is aspected or occupied, it becomes manifest. For example, the phoneme of the twelfth lunar day is "m"; by the piercing of the twelfth lunar day, the phoneme "m" is afflicted. The vowel of "m" is "i". The group of five beginning with the phoneme is determined from the first phoneme of the name. By affliction of the lunar day, phonemes and vowels become afflicted. By the piercing planets looking at Leo on the twelve-spoke diagram, the pierced group of five beginning with the phoneme is aspected. When any one of the signs beneath the phonemes and vowels is aspected, the group of five beginning with the phoneme is not aspected. On "inauspicious": Inauspicious means a malefic planet. Auspicious means a benefic planet. Venus, when piercing a lunar day in the bright fortnight, making a piercing of the lunar day, gives all its own fruit determined by its aspect. In the dark fortnight, it gives half the auspicious and inauspicious fruit. On "in the planet's fraction": In the fraction of a celestial body—that is, in the fraction of a planet—a full aspect is always to be understood by the wise.

In a piercing devoid of aspect, however, there would be no auspicious or inauspicious [result] at all. On the words "thus indeed": In this order, by differences of aspect, the whole result has been declared, that is, stated. Thus:
