[On the words] 'ityevam' [etc.]: In this manner I shall explain the diagrammatic wheel consisting of three thrones, by the mere knowledge of which the determination of kingship is made. 'With twenty-seven asterisms': with twenty-seven lunar mansions, each [group] consisting of nine lunar mansions, there are three thrones, arranged according to the five subtle channels beginning with Aśvinī, Maghā, and Mūla. [On] 'aśvinyādi': there, in the northern section, the one beginning with Aśvinī belongs to the lord of horses; in the east, the one beginning with Maghā belongs to the king; in the southern section, the one beginning with Mūla belongs to the lord of elephants. Thus there are three thrones. 'In others': in other kingdoms, one should declare the three thrones from the king's name asterism. In whichever section Saturn is located, this auspicious or inauspicious fruit occurs in every way. [On] 'nāḍikā': by the piercing of five channels, there are five seats in order beginning with the support (ādhāra) for each king. That is to say, the throne is constructed with five steps. There, the lower step is called the support; above it is the seat (āsana); above it is the step called the throne-tablet (paṭṭa); above it is the lion step (siṃha); above it is the lion throne (siṃhāsana), seated upon which the king becomes like a lion. [On] 'ādhārādiphalam': clear.
