44. The Nibandhana commentary explains this as the loss of the projecting force of karma, which “throws” the assembled factors (like an arrow), at birth, only for a determinate length of time (pūrvopāttāyuḥsaṁskārāṇām āvedhakṣayaḥ, Samtani 1971, pp. 155–56).
