"Furthermore, four viparyāsas were spoken by the Buddha: taking the impermanent to be permanent, whereby there arise viparyāsa of perception, viparyāsa of mind, and viparyāsa of view; taking what is suffering to be happiness, whereby there arise viparyāsa of perception, of mind, and of view; taking what is non-self to be self, whereby there arise viparyāsa of perception, of mind, and of view; taking the impure to be pure, whereby there arise viparyāsa of perception, of mind, and of view. These are called the four viparyāsas.
