The Long Āgama Sūtra 2.10

2.10

佛告阿難：「若能爾者，長幼和順，轉更增盛，其國久安，無能侵損。阿難！汝聞跋祇國人君臣和順，上下相敬不？」

The Buddha said to Ānanda, “If they do that, then the elders and the youth will be in accord, and that’ll make them flourish. Their country will be safe for a long time. They’ll be impossible to conquer.

“Ānanda, have you heard that the people of Vṛji are in accord with the nobility and ministers? Do those in high and low stations respect each other?”
