The Long Āgama Sūtra 2.51

2.51

「佛為海船師，法橋渡河津；
大乘道之輿，一切渡天人。
亦為自解結，渡岸得昇仙；
都使諸弟子，縛解得涅槃。」

“The Buddha is the ocean’s ship captain;
The Dharma is the bridge that crosses the river.
Guiding a great vehicle to carry them,
All the gods and people cross over.

Indeed, by untying his own bonds
He crossed to the shore and became a sage.
He helped all of his disciples
Who’re freed from bondage and will attain nirvāṇa.”
