The Buddha said to the bhikṣus: "There are other phenomena, profound, subtle, the great radiance of the Dharma, with which alone noble disciples can truly praise the Tathāgata. What are these profound, subtle phenomena of great radiance with which noble disciples can praise the Tathāgata? Whatever śramaṇas and brāhmaṇas there are who, concerning the past kalpas and past views, or future kalpas and future views, speak in countless ways as they please, all are included within the sixty-two views. Speaking in countless ways as they please concerning the past kalpas and past views, or future kalpas and future views, none can go beyond the sixty-two views. Due to what conditions do those śramaṇas and brāhmaṇas, speaking in countless ways as they please concerning the past kalpas and past views, or future kalpas and future views, all fall within these sixty-two views, not going beyond them? Śramaṇas and brāhmaṇas who, concerning the past kalpas and past views, speak in countless ways as they please, are all included within eighteen views. Speaking in countless ways as they please concerning the past kalpas and past views, none can go beyond the eighteen views. Due to what conditions do those śramaṇas and brāhmaṇas, speaking in countless ways as they please concerning the past kalpas and past views, all fall within the eighteen views, not going beyond them? Śramaṇas and brāhmaṇas who, concerning the past kalpas and past views, give rise to the doctrine of eternalism, saying: 'The self and the world are eternal'—these are all included within four views. Saying, concerning the past kalpas and past views: 'The self and the world are eternal,' they are all included within the four views, not going beyond them.
