"Householder's son! Those Four Heavenly Kings replied to the bhikṣu: 'We do not know from what source the four great elements are extinguished forever. Above us there is a heaven called Trāyastriṃśa, subtle, supreme, and possessing great wisdom; those devas can know from what source the four great elements are extinguished.' Having heard this, that bhikṣu instantly traversed the heavenly path and went to the Trāyastriṃśa heaven, asking the devas: 'From what source are the four great elements of this body—earth, water, fire, and wind—extinguished forever?' Those Trāyastriṃśa devas replied to the bhikṣu: 'We do not know from what source the four great elements are extinguished. Higher up there is another heaven called Yāma, subtle, supreme, and possessing great wisdom; those devas can know.' He immediately went and approached them with the question, and they also said they did not know.
