"Then Mahā-Govinda built a quiet hermitage to the east of that city, and during the four months of the summer he stayed there, cultivating the four immeasurables. However, Brahmā still did not descend. Govinda thought to himself: 'I heard from the ancient elders that if one cultivates the four immeasurables during the four months of the summer, Brahmā descends and manifests himself. Yet now all is silent, without the slightest sign.' Then, at the time of the full moon on the fifteenth day, Mahā-Govinda went out of his quiet room and sat in the open air. Not long after he sat down, a great light appeared. Govinda silently thought: 'Could this extraordinary light perhaps be an auspicious sign that Brahmā is about to descend?'
