The brāhmaṇa said to Kāśyapa: "If you maintain that practicing good deeds leads to rebirth in heaven, and that death is better than life, then you should cut your own throat with a knife, drink poison and die, or bind your body with the five bonds and cast yourself down from a high cliff. Yet now you cling to life and are unable to kill yourselves; thus one knows that death is not better than life."
