King Śuddhodana was seated in a great hall with his concubines. Udāyī then flew up into the air. King Śuddhodana saw Udāyī holding a bowl in his hand, so he picked up his staff and stood before him. Looking at [Udāyī], he was frightened and said, “What is this person? Is he human or non-human? A god or demon? A yakṣa, rākṣasa, god, nāga, or demonic spirit?”
