It was then that the ascetic Upaka saw the Bhagavān from afar. His glowing form was clear and bright, blotting out the light of the sun and moon. Upon seeing him, Upaka said to the Bhagavān, “Gautama, where does your teacher reside? On whom do you base your homeless religious training? What teaching do you always discuss with delight? Where are you coming from? Where are you going?”
