13. In Aṅguttara Nikāya 3.70 and 8.43, both of which are suttas on the uposatha, we find the sixteen kingdoms listed as Aṅga, Magadha, Kāsi, Kosala, Vajji, Malla, Ceti, Vaṅga, Kuru, Pañcāla, Maccha, Sūrasena, Assaka, Avanti, Gandhāra, and Kamboja.
