39. The Sanskrit says he sets down his “staff and water pot” (daṇḍakamaṇḍalu). Some dictionaries describe this conjunct term as a water pot with a handle. However, it is clear from the mention of this at the beginning of the sūtra that he does carry a staff (daṇḍa). See .
