一時,佛住波羅㮈國仙人住處鹿野苑中。
At one time, the Buddha was staying in the country of Vārāṇasī at the Deer Park in the dwelling place of the ṛṣis.

At that time, the Bhagavat told the bhikṣus: “There are four noble truths. What are the four? They are the noble truth of duḥkha, the noble truth of the origination of duḥkha, the noble truth of the cessation of duḥkha, and the noble truth of the path leading to the cessation of duḥkha. If a bhikṣu has known and fully understood the noble truth of duḥkha, has known and abandoned the noble truth of the origination of duḥkha, has known and realized the noble truth of the cessation of duḥkha, and has known and cultivated the noble truth of the path leading to the cessation of duḥkha, this is called a bhikṣu who has cut off five factors, achieved six parts, guarded the one, relied upon the four, relinquished various truths, departed from the four crossroads, realized the notions of thought, stilled bodily activity, whose mind is well liberated, whose wisdom is well liberated, who is entirely pure and clean, and who is called a supreme person.”
It was then that the Bhagavān addressed the monks, “There are four noble truths. What are the four? They are the noble truth of suffering, the noble truth of suffering’s formation, the noble truth of suffering’s cessation, and the noble truth of the path to suffering’s cessation.
“If a monk has known the noble truth of suffering, then he has understood [suffering] … has known the noble truth of suffering’s formation, then he has ended [its formation] … has known the noble truth of suffering’s cessation, then he has realized [its cessation] … has known the noble truth of the path to suffering’s cessation, then he has cultivated [that path]. He is called a monk who has ended the five factors, achieved six parts, guarded one thing, and relied upon four things. He abandons truths, leaves the crossroads, and realizes the ideas. By his own doing, his mind is well liberated, and his wisdom is well liberated. Being entirely pure white, he is called a superior man.”

佛說此經已,諸比丘聞佛所說,歡喜奉行。
When the Buddha had spoken this sūtra, the bhikṣus heard what the Buddha had said, and rejoiced and practiced accordingly.
After the Buddha spoke this sūtra, the monks who heard what the Buddha taught rejoiced and approved.
