The Buddha told Rāhula: "You should contemplate that whatever rūpa there is—whether past, future, or present; internal or external; gross or subtle; fine or ugly; far or near—all of it is anātman, not distinct from the self, and not mutually contained [within the self]. One yathābhūtaprajñāna contemplates thus with equanimous wisdom. In the same way, vedanā, saṃjñā, saṃskāras, and vijñāna—whether past, future, or present; internal or external; gross or subtle; fine or ugly; far or near—all of it is anātman, not distinct from the self, and not mutually contained [within the self]. One yathābhūtaprajñāna contemplates thus with equanimous wisdom.
