[The great patience] has the duḥkha of Kāmadhātu as its object; / it lasts for a single moment. Likewise / the supreme mundane qualities: all are the five skandhas / except for acquisition. Thus, / the four aids to penetration / are born of meditation, belonging to the unhindered / and special dhyāna planes. / The [first] two exist also below; / based in Kāmadhātu; the supreme mundane qualities / are attained by women based on both. / The ārya discards them upon abandoning the plane; / the non-ārya, by death. / Even through degenerating from the first two, / one sees the truth in this very life through the fundamental [dhyāna]. / When degenerating, one attains what was not had before. / The two who degenerate are not endowed [with them]. / One who attains the peak does not sever the roots [of virtue]; / one who attains patience does not go to bad migrations. / Having turned away from the lineage of learners, two / become Buddhas; and the other three. / The Teacher and the rhinoceros[-like pratyekabuddha] up to bodhi, / all rely on a single, final dhyāna. / Prior to that are the aids to liberation; / the swift are liberated in three lives; / they are the three actions arising from hearing and reflection; / they project from among humans. / From the supreme mundane qualities / arises anāsrava dharma-patience / toward the duḥkha of Kāmadhātu; then / dharma-knowledge toward that very [truth]; likewise, / subsequent patience and knowledge toward the remaining duḥkha. / It is the same for the other three truths. / Thus, this direct realization of the truths / consists of sixteen minds; it is threefold: / seeing, object, and function. / It has the same plane as the supreme mundane qualities. / Patience and knowledge are, in order, / the unhindered path and the path of liberation. / Therein, fifteen moments / are the path of seeing, because of seeing what was not seen. / In them, with sharp and dull faculties, / are the followers by faith and followers of the dharma. / If one has not abandoned what is to be abandoned by meditation, / one enters upon the first fruit; / having destroyed up to five kinds, upon the second; / up to the ninth is exhausted; / detached from Kāmadhātu or higher, / one enters upon the third. / Whichever [fruit] one has entered upon, / on the sixteenth [moment] one abides in its fruit. / At that time, those of sharp and dull faculties / are those resolved through faith and those who have attained through seeing.
